Video installation, 2007
Not a Figment of Imagination, is a looped two-screen video installation (10 minutes) with stereo sound by Susan Jahoda and Jean-Marie Casbarian, 2007.
This work addresses the physical and psychological trauma experienced by people who witness the violence of war. Evidence of post-traumatic stress permeates life in every country, and the despicable neglect and unrecognized suffering of returning American soldiers is but one example of the damage that contemporary society must absorb.
Perpetrators and other survivors of extreme violence are often left to wander in trauma and recovery without borders or limits, and all of us must struggle to comprehend the consequences of ill-conceived acts of aggression.
