Ultra-red: What Is The Sound Of Freedom

The Scottish sound collective Arika invited members of the sound collective Ultra-red to organize 4 workshops, as a contribution to A Survey is a Process of Listening, a program for the 2012 Whitney Museum of American Art’s Biennial.  Robert Sember (a founding member of Ultra-red) and I were members of a NYC based pedagogy group that met weekly. Our work together provided an opportunity for me to both audit his course, The Sound of Freedom, at the New School in the spring of 2012 and support and participate in the subsequent workshops at the Whitney.

Work Circles (2013-14)

Work Circles was a research project that put into practice models for co-creation and co-production. The group met monthly to collaboratively create a quilt using re-cycled materials from participants clothing and to discuss economically sustainable forms of labor, production and exchange.
